Software written for one country quietly assumes one tax rate, one language and one banking rail. That assumption holds until a Belgian customer, a German lease company or a British invoice turns up. Here is what in ProCarLink was built for more than one country, and just as plainly what was not.
Thirty-two countries carry their standard and zero rate in the system, twenty-two of them EU members. Sign up from a country outside that set and nothing is invented on your behalf: you enter your own rate once, and every quote and invoice from then on uses it.
Invoicing a business elsewhere in the EU moves the tax to them. Their VAT number is put to the European VIES service, at entry and again on the day the invoice leaves; a clear answer is recorded, an unreachable service leaves it unconfirmed instead of refusing the work you were doing.
The interface exists in Dutch, English, German and French, down to the screen used beside the car. A release in which a text is present in one language and absent in another is refused by a test, which is the difference between four languages and one language with three partial translations.
The subscription is collected by SEPA direct debit, which covers thirty-six countries across the EU, the EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Sign up from outside that zone and the mandate is not offered at all; you leave a bank account number instead of being asked for something that does not exist there.
Any of them. The sign-up accepts every two-letter country code. What differs by country is what is prepared for you: whether a national tax rate is stored, and whether direct debit exists where you bank.
You enter your own percentage once and it is used from then on. Nothing is guessed on your behalf, because a guessed tax rate is worse than a question.
Not when the reverse charge applies: with a valid EU VAT number the charge moves to them and the invoice says so. Without a number they are treated as any other customer in that country.
Yes, the four languages cover the whole interface, including the view the technician uses next to the car, so your team is not forced into a language it does not read.
